Welcome to the first day of April also known as April Fool’s Day. Today is celebrated in many countries and sometimes referred to as All Fools’ Day. While April 1st is not a national holiday, it is widely recognized and celebrated as a day when people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other.

In the Middle East, Iranians play jokes on each other on the 13th day of the Persian new year (Nowruz) (now means new and ruz means day), which falls on April 1 or April 2. This day, celebrated as far back as 536 BC, is called Sizdah Bedar and is the oldest prank-tradition in the world still alive today. This fact has led many to believe that April Fools’ Day has its origins in this tradition.

In England, one of the earliest recorded associations between April 1st and foolishness is found in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales (1392), where the vain cock Chauntecleer is tricked by a fox.

In Italy, France and Belgium, children and adults traditionally tack paper fishes on each other’s back as a trick and shout “April fish!” in their local languages (pesce d’aprile!, poisson d’avril! and aprilvis! in Italian, French and Dutch, respectively). Such fish features prominently on many French April Fools’ Day postcards from the late 19th to early 20th century.

The April 1st tradition in France, Romandy and French-speaking Canada includes poisson d’avril (literally “April’s fish”), attempting to attach a paper fish to the victim’s back without being noticed. This is also widespread in other nations, such as Italy, where the term Pesce d’aprile (literally “April’s fish”) is also used to refer to any jokes done during the day. This custom also exists in certain areas of Belgium, including the province of Antwerp.

The Flemish tradition of April Fool’s Day is for children to lock out their parents or teachers, only letting them in if they promise to bring treats the same evening or the next day. Sounds like great fun and just like the behavior of the Joker in the deck of cards!

The infamous Joker (born on December 31st) is one anomaly of this system. Olney Richmond, author of the original book on the sacred science of the cards, states in The Mystic Test Book that the Solar Value of the Joker is 0, which interestingly means it is no card at all.

Zero represents the unmanifested potential of the universe. Zero is nothing because it has no value, yet it is out of Zero that everything comes. So a Zero has the potential to become anything. That’s why Zero is ‘nothing’ and yet ‘everything’. The Zero is the unmanifested universe, the field of infinite possibilities from which all things are born or created. Being no card, the Joker is like a fertile field into which any seed may be planted. Thus, the Joker can become any card that he or she chooses.

The Joker is like a super-Jack, the Jack of all Jacks. As Robert Lee Camp points out in his book, Exploring the Little Book of the Seven Thunders, “all Jacks can act and portray different qualities in order to get what they want, the Joker can actually become that character.” Some of the best actors and performers like Anthony Hopkins, Val Kilmer and Ben Kingsley are Jokers who use their gifts to entertain and delight audiences around the world. Jokers seem to gravitate to the performing arts or other areas where they can be recognized and appreciated.

World renowned comedian, George Carlin, was quoted as saying, “People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.” I totally agree and that is why I tell all my clients and students that the cards are for “entertainment purposes” only. Then I follow that up with the comment that “all of life is for entertainment purposes only!” Why? Because we are all characters is the greatest movie ever made.

Here is a perfect example to show the validity of that statement and the Science of the Cards. All of these comedians with basically different birthdays are the same card, the Seven of Diamonds 7♦. This card is commonly referred to as the card of spiritual values and is a member of the Magical Family of Seven. To be spiritual, as the number Seven implies, is to be free of concern for worldly or material affairs, including relationships, money, good health and attitudes. Could it be that these comedians were/are here to tell us to lighten up and laugh at ourselves and life in general? I certainly think so!

The Seven of Diamonds 7♦ is one of those unique cards called a ‘Semi-Fixed’ Card. As part of a Magical Family of Seven uniquely different cards, these people fall into a different category and have a special mark on their lives.

Being a Seven in and of itself brings a certain amount of playfulness. They are able to touch upon the mystical dimensions of life where almost anything is possible. Their own values and behavior can change often, which makes them a lot like a Jack. Yet, many of them can be quite stubborn. The Seven of Diamonds 7♦ people are also extremely creative and some are destined to become millionaires in this lifetime by accessing the high side of this spiritual money card, which is often referred to as the “millionaire’s card.”

The Seven of Diamonds 7♦ is one of the most spiritual cards in the deck and as such, their success comes from approaching life in ways other than traditional or materialistic. The most successful are the ones that live in the faith and trust that all their needs will be provided for. By suit, they are always connected with money. As a spiritual number, they must maintain a non-attached attitude about money or there will be continuous problems in this area. Most Seven of Diamonds 7♦ people are either worrying about it all the time or not worrying and having as much as they like. Regardless, many of their life lessons will come through this issue.

When they tap develop the art of appreciation and have an attitude of gratitude, they won’t lack anything in their lives again. Once on the spiritual path, everything in their life is put into proper perspective and they can excel in any chosen field. Whatever profession they choose they bring forth a unique creative gift and the gift of knowing how to promote what they do. Their success comes in giving and in not being attached to or having expectations as to how others respond to them or to what they get back. The Seven of Diamonds 7♦ will only succeed by letting go and becoming part of the divine flow.

Whenever we see two of any of these seven cards together, we know the one of the reasons for them being together is to repay some past-life debt between them. You will find that people of the magical group are very often found together, either through love, marriage, friendship or in business associations.

We have now left the winter months of the Spades suit (December J♠, January Q♠ and February K♠) and are marching into Spring, which brings new beginnings and new opportunities. March is governed by the Jack of Hearts♥ and represents the start of the new season. In the Sacred Science of the Cards, the four suits represent the four seasons of the year as well as the seasons of life. The first season, Spring, is represented by the Hearts suit and covers the first three months of this new astrological year.

In his book, The Mystic Test Book, author Olney Richmond says, “In the spring of the year the birds mate. In the springtime of life or the first quarter, love is the master passion. The heart was therefore chosen as the emblem of the first quarter and the first season.” The Hearts cards represent the springtime and youth of life and the people who have Hearts Birth Cards are here to experience life and themselves through love, emotions, children, family, sex and relationships.

While the exact timing of “Spring” throughout the world varies according to local climate, cultures and customs, Spring and springtime not only refer to the season, but also to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection, and regrowth. March offers each of us a time of transformation; a time to welcome new beginnings into our lives. We need to remember that every time we begin something new like a new habit, move to a new home, start a new career or even begin a new relationship, we must give up an old one. We have to let go of things or people that we once cherished in order to make way for something new in order to fully embrace and experience new growth for the evolution of our soul.

March is a wonderful time for spring cleaning and also a wonderful time to start planning the rest of your year, and maybe even the rest of your life. The Cards of Life Online Store offers easy-to-understand reports to show you when and how to make the most of these new beginnings in your life!

The Hearts suit governs the first period of our lives and the first season of the year – the season of childhood. Family, love, home, relationships, emotions, and children all fall under the domain of Hearts. They usually love children.

People who are born as a Hearts Birth Card are often child-like in nature because they are the children of the deck, often maintaining a youthful exuberance even into later years. They never really get old, at least not on the inside.

Hearts people are most concerned and affected by their personal relationships, especially relationships with people in their families. They live through emotions and relationships. Hearts is also the suit of sex and Hearts people seem to make that a greater priority than the other suits. Most people find them to be very sensual and sexual. The Hearts person is here searching for the perfect love. The positive Hearts person is friendly and affectionate; the negative Hearts person is self-indulgent and flirtatious.

Hearts people excel in people-oriented careers and make good nurses, teachers, and counselors, as well as artists and musicians.

Interestingly, there are 52 Hearts birthdays in a year, the same number of cards in a deck!

The name of “March” comes from ancient Rome, when March was the first month of the year and named Martius after Mars or Ares, the Greek god of war. In Rome, where the climate is Mediterranean, March was the first month of spring, a logical point for the beginning of the year as well as the start of the military campaign season. January became the first month of the calendar year either under King Numa Pompilius (c. 713 BCE) or under the Decemvirs about 450 BCE (Roman writers differ). The numbered year began on March 1 in Russia until the end of the 15th century. Great Britain and its colonies continued to use March 25 until 1752, which was when they ultimately adopted the Gregorian calendar. Many other cultures and religions still celebrate the beginning of the New Year in March.

In the Sacred Science of the Cards, One is called the ACE and represents the beginning. It feels its supreme importance as the ego and says: “I AM.” In the Sacred Science of the Cards, ones are represented by the Aces. They have the power to create and to manifest.

The Ace represents the most primary of the masculine, creative principal. All Aces, regardless of their sex, will have a somewhat masculine nature, either physically or just as part of their personality. The number “1″ phallic shape reveals this masculine energy. Aces can be quite forceful and their “giving” energy is felt in their lives and relationships.

Ones have the power of manifestation. Each time we move from one number to the next, we have added a One to it. One is the masculine energy that must go and do something new. They never rest for very long as they always have the desire to start something new. The Ace, like all the odd cards, is a specifier. They create new ideas, new energies, new thoughts, and new desires. They are able to manifest so easily because they have just emerged from the void of the unmanifested.

The life of an Ace can be a constant chain of one creation after another. They are always creating and manifesting and exemplify the creative masculine force. They are conduits of new ideas and projects and seem to be constantly receiving (channeling) input from some higher force. They love new beginnings and to go forth and create something new and see their ideas come into materialization. Seeing, hearing, tasting or touching something they have created is their ultimate reward. Bringing something into manifest, something that was not here before, is the Aces greatest satisfaction and their greatest challenge. Because Aces are great initiators, they can start more things than they can finish. You will find them working on a project for a while and then suddenly start working on a new idea. They get bored quickly and want something new to do or someone new to interact with. Most Aces excel at communications and their lives are often an endless flow of phone calls, e-mail and letters.

Aces are definitely not known for their patience. They want it right now. They want it right away and with no excuses or delays. And many pay the price for having it now. Aces seem to have an unconscious knowing about their ability of manifestation which possibly could be the reason for their impatience. With so much to accomplish and so little time to do it, they don’t like to waste standing in line, sitting in traffic or waiting for others to finish talking. Overflowing with desire and ideas on how to make something happen, it is not their nature to wait for something to happen. Remember this if you are dealing with an Ace. If they seem impatient, it is because they have something important that they want to get done. It is not that they don’t like you. Aces, however, are self-absorbed to a certain degree. If you are not contributing something to them in a tangible way or giving them something they want or need, then your relationship with them has outlived its usefulness and will be over quickly.

Like the number One, Aces represent the individual, a singular person. Aces can be very private and are often loners. Many Aces feel alone even in relationships or when they are around others. While Ace people do function well by themselves, they are often found in groups because three out of four of the Aces in the deck have a Two as a Karma Card:

Ace of Clubs♣ has a Two of Hearts.

Ace of Diamonds♦ has a Two of Diamonds.

Ace of Spades♠ has a Two of Clubs.

Twos represent a union of two people. A couple or pair. Aces want to be satisfied with the Two, to bind with another, to bond with someone, and be in balance. The hidden influence of these karma cards brings a certain amount of concern and consideration for others. Many Aces can be quite charming and even caring. On some level, they do feel the need of other people in order to feel complete. This is a paradox for the Ace person who often feels the need to be by themselves while at the same time has an eternal longing for the perfect mate or companion.

Above all else, Aces are individuals and need time to themselves to explore who they are on a basic level. Yet, with an abundance of masculine energy expressed as action and accomplishment, Aces tend to find themselves in the reflection of their accomplishments and awards instead of looking within. They are here to learn self-acceptance. Aces need to sit still long enough to look in the mirror and discover what they have been yearning for all along was always inside them.

February is governed by the King of Spades and is a wonderful time to learn more about the “masters” who have brought the Science of the Cards to us today. As the highest card of the deck, the King of Spades sits in a fixed position on the Crown Line in both the Spiritual and Life Spreads. It is the king of kings; the master of masters and answers to no one. This card contains all properties of the previous 51 cards of the deck and their karma as well.

Isn’t it interesting that there are so many expressions that we commonly use in our everyday conversations that come from this “ordinary” deck of playing cards? Have you ever heard someone say that they don’t want to “get lost in the shuffle” or ask the question, “What’s the deal anyway?”

Most of us have heard people say, “It’s just not in the cards for me to …” when things didn’t work out the way that he or she had planned. When someone seems to be in charge of a situation, people say that they are “holding all the cards.” Some days you may feel as though “the cards have been stacked against me” when nothing you try works out or something seems to be blocking your efforts or from achieving your goals. Or maybe you have said, “I need to play my cards right to…” when you wanted to take make the most of certain opportunities that were present in your life. Of course, there others who love to tell us that we need to just “learn to play the hand we’ve been dealt” when things are not going our way.

Many times we see people being secretive about their plans, thoughts, or feelings. We say they are “playing their cards close to their chest” like many card players do. When people want someone to openly reveal what their plans or intentions are, they usually ask them to “put (or lay) your cards on the table.”

For some people who can do just about everything others will tell them that they are “a Jack of all trades.” Another card quote is “He is such a card!” referring to a witty, entertaining, or eccentric person. That one is a very interesting and rather accurate comment since basically we are all cards.

Like it or not, cards are a part of life. Doesn’t make sense to understand the cards you were dealt on the day you were born? When you do, you become the master of your life and have the opportunity to turn a life of fate into a life of destiny. Fate is the cards you were given when you were born; destiny is what you do with them!

Make a resolution to call 770-597-2012 today for a Private Consultation to learn how to be the master your cards and live a life of destiny!

With its origin over 20,000 years ago in the early days of Atlantis, the Order of the Magi is probably one of the oldest spiritual organizations that has ever existed. No one knows the exact origin of the group, but evidence shows that they have maintained and preserved some of our most valuable and important spiritual sciences. These are the Magi of ancient Egypt and before; those who study the laws of nature and our cosmos; those who know the secrets of our planet and are dedicated to the preservation and sharing of these ancient truths. It has been said that the wise men and prophets written about in the Bible were among its members and that even Jesus himself was one of their ordained and trained leaders. It is only now that the world is ready for the information that has been kept completely secret for thousands of years. It was in 1894 through Olney Richmond that the very first book was made public, revealing some of their astounding information.

The fascinating science of the cards, which incorporates astrology and numerology, is believed to date back to the days of Atlantis. The oldest printed material known comes to us from Olney H. Richmond, a man who published information about the cards in 1893 in his first book, The Mystic Test Book. It was given this title because everything inside could actually be tested for its validity. He gave some miraculous demonstrations for the newspaper reporters who came to see and understand his work.

Olney Richmond was the Grand Master of the Order of the Magi, which he officially resurrected in the upper Midwest in the late 19th century. Richmond was a Civil War veteran who was told of the Order by a mysterious stranger one night while he stood guard duty in Nashville, Tennessee. This stranger told him that he was to be his successor and eventually passed on to him the teachings of the Magi. Further, he told Richmond that he would pass through many battles in the course of the war, but that no harm would come to him. This proved to be true.

Richmond held that the Order had centers in not only Chaldea, but also Egypt and Persia. He also held that Pythagoras, one of the most famous and controversial ancient Greek philosophers who lived from ca. 570 to ca. 490 BCE, was a Grand Master of the Order (by way of the Egyptian temple).

It is said that the original cards were carved on ivory tablets and used exclusively by the priests in the temples in Atlantis. Later, the tablets were moved to Egypt to help preserve the human race.

Richmond lectured in the Grand Temple of the Magi on the history, philosophy, and practices of the Order as well as other topics including the Astral Body, the Study of Infinity, and the Evolution of Matter. An interesting aspect of the Order was its extensive use of magic squares and playing cards in divination. Richmond had extraordinary mathematical abilities. His skills and mathematical analysis of the game of checkers were publicly demonstrated during the 19th century- the peak of that sport.

The Ace of Spades has always been the symbol for this ancient group and that is why, to this day, the Ace of Spades always appears larger in decks of cards throughout the world. The Ace of Spades represents the secrets that lie behind what appears to be the truth. It represents the veil that separates the material and spiritual worlds and the power that we have to make a personal transformation to a higher level of consciousness.

This out-of-print book is still available and is the first to illuminate the personality traits of the 52 Birth Cards.
Welcome to January, a month typically recognized as a time of new beginnings and making personal resolutions. It has been a honored tradition to make a resolution on New Year’s Eve to do something life-altering in the coming year. Yet, statistically, most people who resolve to change their ways, whether it is to exercise more, save money, upgrade their diet or improve their relationships, usually fail to do so. Just as traditional as making resolutions are, the subsequent complaints are that most have not been to fulfill these promises made to themselves. In fact, according to a survey conducted by time management experts FranklinCovey, a full 35 percent of New Year’s resolutions are broken before the end of January. The survey enlisted the answers of 15,000 respondents and found that only 23 percent of New Year’s Eve resolutions were kept.

I would like to offer two explanations as to why so many fail so miserably and so quickly. First, we live in cycles of time based on our birthday, the day we entered the world. The Cards of Life Our lives, our lessons, even our astrology, numerology and especially our cards work effectively and efficiently in cycles from birthday to birthday. Trying to put everyone’s lives into a contrived construct like a year from January 1 to December 31 in the Gregorian Calendar just doesn’t work, unless your birthday is January 1st.

Secondly, our soul chose a plan for us before we were born. This divine plan defines the way our lives will play out and which changes we will experience and when. This information can easily be found in your cards. In every spread of time offered in this system, whether it is Life, 7-Year, 1-Year, 7-Week or Weekly, there are cards that show you specifically what changes are going to occur and even what the results will be. You can see what the lessons are and most importantly, how to succeed. Remember, fate has dealt the cards that you have and destiny is the way you play them!

The Cards of Life are for more than just birthdays. Every business, every contract, every product or website launch, every relationship and even this newsletter has a birthday. The day that any venture is created or birthed, that new entity from that union has a birthday. Like us, it has a Birth Card with all the lessons, rewards and even karma associated with its birthday.

Many people ask about the cards of their relationships. Relationships define us and powerfully impact our lives. The day that two people get married, their marriage, their union takes on the life of the card for that day. This card not only impacts the lives of the two people involved, but eventually their children and their family and close friends. Not every card in the deck has great marriage karma. Many cards are destined to fail. Wouldn’t you like to know in advance which day of the year will bring strength and power to your marriage to help you to overcome all the outside forces that try to tear two people apart?

It should come as no surprise that Bill and Melinda were married on January 1st in 1994. Do you think that getting married on the only King of Spades day of the year has anything to do with their success and contributes to their life of privilege and power? Of course, Bill Gates is a wealthy American business magnate and philanthropist, who is the chairman of Microsoft, but is it possible that he and Melinda understood the energies that their particular wedding day would bring to them each and every day for as long as they remain married?

The King of Spades is the final, and most powerful card in the deck, King of Spades representing both mastery of one’s environment and one’s self. This card is endowed with good fortune, especially in legal matters and business, but can be blessed with success in any area of life. It is truly the card of ‘success in all things’ but brings the most blessings to those who are ready and willing to take responsibility for their life and work and who can take a leadership position. Remember every King has a kingdom. Bill and Melinda Gates have certainly created that and much, much more. When two people get married on January 1st, they should be prepared to take a leadership role and to live by their own wisdom. Success is theirs for the taking, but they have to stand up and claim it.

We obviously don’t marry every one we meet but it is helpful to know how a new relationship can be supported and given every opportunity for success by knowing the cards. As the relationship changes, the card for the relationship changes as well. Here is the order in which it typically progresses:

~ Day you meet

~ Day you go on your first date

~ Day you first kiss

~ Day you decide to date each other exclusively

~ Day you first have sex

~ Day you get engaged

~ Day you get married

At each step along the way, the previous card that represented the relationship is replaced by the next. Obviously there are events in our lives that cannot be scheduled or controlled and are destined to happen. However, using this empowering information as a guide, it can help us overcome today’s overwhelming odds stacked against the success of long-term relationships, especially marriage. Using the Cards of Life can bring love, success, and magic to all your new relationships!

Welcome to the most talked about period in the history of humanity. The long-awaited month of December 2012 has finally arrived and many are anxious to know what the future holds. As the author of the award-winning novel, Flying Between Heaven and Earth, and a teacher of the Mayan Calendar, I have spoken a lot about this most mystical and magical time in humanity’s history. What I discovered in my research is that everything is consciousness, our thoughts and feelings; consciousness is how we think and feel, and what we think and feel about. These thoughts and feelings can be about ourselves, our friends, family, jobs, health and even the world at large. Our thoughts are vibrationally alive and operate like magnets and create our perception of reality. Interestingly, our consciousness is all connected, including that of animals, plants and our planet.

Do you think it is a coincidence that out of all the decks of the deck that December 21st is a Ten of Hearts♥ day with a Ace of Diamonds♦ Planetary Ruling Card? The Ten of Hearts♥ is the card of “ten hearts” and represents success with large groups. The Ace of Diamonds♦ represents a new value and the desire for love and prosperity. Do you see the magic already destined for that day?

Before I continue, I would like to address the issue of the “end of time.” The Mayan Calendar does NOT end on 12/21/2012. Their calendar is round and therefore has no end. However, the Maya do see time as a spiral, where life evolves and moves forward in cycles, or ages of time. This is similar to astrology when we move from one constellation to another, from one zodiac sign to another, also known as an “age,” like moving from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius. We are experiencing an end of an age or cycle within the Mayan Calendar, not the end of the calendar itself. Soon we will be entering the beginning of another great cycle of time, moving into another great cycle around our Sun.

Time is definitely an interesting phenomenon, especially now as it seems that our day is over before it has even begun. Everyone is sensing this acceleration but most don’t understand why. Throughout the solar system the evolution of consciousness is accelerating and is directly connected to our Sun. As the Sun moves into its next phase, a yellow-white star, consciousness is moving into its next stage. Everything is being upgraded to a higher level and higher frequency and vibration. All the planets are warming up, not just the Earth. Everything is connected and the Sun is not only our source for physical life, it is the source for our consciousness. We are all being influenced by cosmic solar energies that are speeding up, heating up and stimulating our perceptions in radical ways. The old ways of being and thinking are breaking down and transmuting to allow for a more expanded consciousness that includes possibilities for the masses not just the few.

Many people are awaking up with a broader view of themselves and the universe by this acceleration of time. With this awakening, also comes an acceleration of manifestation and the responsibility to control our minds and our consciousness. Just like the Cards of Life, consciousness can have a a low expression and a high expression. Our thinking, our consciousness through the Law of Attraction, will vibrationally create a reality to match our thoughts and emotions. If we are in fear and panic about the future and our own personal destiny, then like magnets, we will draw to us that lower expression of life. Those that hold their thoughts and vision of the future and their destiny in a higher and more positive vibration will magnetically attract exactly that to themselves. Collectively we can choose a higher consciousness and embrace a greater vision, based on love and unity, for humanity and create a “Heaven on Earth” or we can hold on to lower thoughts and visions, based on fear and separation, and create a “Hell on Earth.” The decision is ours and our answer will soon be written in the history books of our children and grandchildren.

A universal measurement of time is the Law of Cause and Effect. The distance between the cause and its effect is a measurement of time. This distance is getting shorter. How many times have you thought of someone and within minutes they call? This Law of Cause and Effect is also known as “karma” which states that with every action there is a reaction. It is very important that we be careful of what we think, say or even wish for because we will get it–and probably sooner than we expect. What creates our unique experience of time is our mind. The mind is a powerful tool for creation of our reality. Keep this “in mind” when watching fear-based news broadcasts, television programming or even being in a argument. Every thought has a vibration, and if we keep repeating a negative thought and feel a negative emotion with that thought, we will manifest some type of negative reality for ourselves and others. There is a personal responsibility that comes with the power of manifestation, for the attitudes we hold and how we communicate.

In a commencement address at Duke University on May 10, 2009, American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist, Oprah Winfrey said basically the same thing to the graduates of the Class of 2009, “You are responsible for the energy that you bring,” encouraging the students to assume this responsibility in their future lives. This is excellent advice for everyone!

With all that said, it is hard to believe that another year is rapidly coming to an end; another chapter of life in the sacred Book of Destiny is closing. 2012 has been quite extraordinary for everyone. Being the Magi Fellowship, the organization charged with the preservation and dissemination of the sacred science of the cards, has open my mind, heart and consciousness into a higher and much better view of not only myself, but the world around me. 2012 has been a magical year, indeed, and the best is still yet to come!

Every day of the year has a particular card and with that card comes specific energies, experiences and even karma that affect your life that day. The “natural” card for each day influences you even if it is not your Birth Card or your Planetary Ruling Card. For example, anyone born today would be a Queen of Clubs person. Even though today, December 6th, is not your birthday, the Queen of Clubs influences you and everyone else on the planet. These universal energies affect all of us. There is much you can discover about the cards, their meanings and the universal energies coming each day by reading the Card of the Day!

Since The Card of the Day! email service launched August 2011, myself and others have noticed how this natural card of the day impacts our lives and now better understand the power that it contains. That is why I am dedicated to continue offering this free service to those who subscribe. My book, Flying Between Heaven and Earth, includes information about the Mayan Calendar and I also taught weekly classes about the Maya in Southern California. In researching this ancient civilization, I also came to discover that the Maya knew there are universal energies, unique to each day of the year, and used them to enhance their experience of life.

Dr. Jose Jaramillo, a professor of the Maya at UCSD in La Jolla, CA, interviewed me for his latest documentary called “The Alignment Within” which was released in August 2011. In the film, everyone interviewed spoke about how these energies affect everyone on the planet. The Maya simply used various animals and elements in their glyphs to express these sacred energies. Although the symbols in the cards differ in appearance from Mayan glyphs, they do offer similar wisdom and knowledge that we, too, can use personally and professionally to enhance our experience of life each and every day.

One practice that the Maya performed daily is after sunset they the studied the glyph for the next day. Before going to sleep, they would simply ask and pray that they could use these upcoming universal energies in a way that would enhance their life and their community. They understood that each day brings a sacred gift and asked that they use this gift from the universe for the highest good of all.

Unfortunately, most people in our society see life as a merry-go-round where each day is basically the same as the next. Our modern day culture doesn’t recognize these unique daily energies. I am honored to continue this ancient sacred tradition with those who subscribe to The Card of the Day! email service and celebrate each card and the universal energies and wisdom it contains to affect positive change in their lives and the world around them.

The Maya were master timekeepers and understood that life is so easy when we are in the divine flow with time. Every day I see how these cards play out magically for myself and others. Many days I feel that I am just writing The Card of the Day! for myself. If you pay attention and watch how things unfold, you too will discover that the accuracy is astounding. The Card of the Day! is emailed the previous evening here in the United States giving subscribers around the world the opportunity to be aware of the energies that each daily card brings. Here are some of the countries where our subscribers live:

Fall is in the air and so is change. This year has been a year of change for everyone. Numerologically 2012 is a year of change because 2+0+1+2=5. Fives represent change. Even if you haven’t experienced significant change in your personal life, the world around you has certainly changed. The word ‘change’ is used frequently in our everyday world, including presidential campaigns, social movements, and global platforms addressing climate change.

The human race is all about change and change is our destiny Fives as a species. Ironically most people are afraid of change and it can invoke tremendous fear, especially when we are older. No matter what we fear personally, and even collectively, mankind is destined to change and evolve in each and every moment of each and every day. None of us came into the world to remain the same. It is absolutely impossible to stay the same. Change we must. If we would just change our attitudes about change then life can be fun and quite exhilarating. Just look at these people having fun today during the flood in Venice, Italy!

In the science of the cards, change is clearly laid out in our Weekly, 7-Week, Yearly, 7-Year and Life Spreads. For people whose Birth Cards are Fives, life is constant change, especially in the area represented by their suit. There is lot to learn about the numbers, the suits, and the combinations of both that make up the cards and the players in our lives. Enjoy learning more about the Fives and the changes they represent in your life!

Call 770-597-2012 today for a Private Consultation to learn more about your card, your karma and your destiny!

The Fives in many ways represent the teenage years of life; a time when one wants to leave the safety and security of home and go out to explore and find something more. The teenage years are a time when we yearn for personal freedom and self-expression. This energy can continue into our twenties as well, as we are curious about the world around us and want to have new experiences, explore foreign lands, meet new people and learn other languages. This is time when we look to the unconventional and unrestricted, especially in areas of relationships, sexuality, religion, spirituality, and even politics.

Fives are enthusiastic agents of change and adventure. I always think of a roller coaster ride whenever I see Fives in my spreads and usually mark things on my calendar in pencil because I know they are going to change. These Fives remind me that it is time for adventure and not to have any expectations or to be attached to any specific outcome. The more attached we are, the more difficult these changes will be. Fives in our spreads indicate a time when we need to raise our hands and enjoy the ride with the highs and lows that change brings!

Edith Randall and Florence Campbell say in their book, Sacred Symbols of the Ancients, that if you look carefully at the formation of the spots on a Five playing card that you will see a Cross. “Life experience is of necessity a cross. Changes and surprises we regard with disfavor since it is but human to fear the unfamiliar or unknown. We may regard the 5 solely in this light if we choose to–but the wise ones recognize Change as Growth, the release from the well-worn rut as Opportunity.” They go on to say that:

HEARTS ♥ have the problem of unsatisfied emotions
CLUBS ♣ of a chronic mental restlessness-no peace
DIAMONDS ♦ of money that is never enough
SPADES ♠ of ill-paid labor

The Five of Clubs 5♣ is the most challenged card in terms of being that way because they have a Five of Hearts 5♥ Karma Card. A life with Double Fives is rough, like living in revolving door. They never know if they are coming or going. One single Five of Clubs 5♣ woman that I know is in her late 50′s and has never had a job for more than 18 months! This is the life of a Five. Now don’t laugh because at some point you will have this card in your spreads as well. The high side of this Five card is the true adventurer, the type who gets a broad view of the world by experience. They are the gatherer of experiences. Randall and Campbell go on about Fives to say, “They want change because they do not want what they have, but as soon as the change is made–still fearful of what lies ahead–they want to change the change. There is always the change that more freedom lies up ahead–and Freedom is their battle-cry.”

Fives indicate a time of dissatisfaction and time for a change. Change demands that we let go of the old to make way for the new. In the four suits of the cards, it basically plays out as the following:

Five of Hearts 5♥ – change of heart
Five of Clubs 5♣ – change of mind or plans
Five of Diamonds 5♦ – change of values
Five of Spades 5♠ – change of lifestyle

The restlessness of a Five can be easily be satisfied by simply taking a trip or vacation. A trip brings in a new experience and creates fresh energy and a new outlook. When most people go on vacation, they return with a new perspective and a new way of looking at life. Travel can definitely satisfy that urge for change which is why all the Fives in our cards correspond to a change in lifestyle, a move, travel, or trips. Fives thrive when they travel to foreign countries and meet new people and broaden their horizons. The Five constantly seeks to expand itself and to discover what else lies beyond the security of home. The feeling of adventure and excitement that comes from travel feeds their soul on a level that most Fours cannot relate to. In many cases, people with Five Birth Cards exhibit such an extreme quest for new experiences that it is difficult for those around them to understand their motives. Fives often take great risks and endure tremendous hardships, all in the name of adventure.

Five means stepping up to a new level of your evolution; being ready to move out of stability and expand your world and your perspective of reality. Five is the number of adventure and of seeking new experiences in the realm of duality. The high side of a Five offers an outgoing influence that brings new things or new people or new situations. It can also indicate socializing and meeting new people. Traveling, having new experiences, gathering new information, wisdom, and so forth are positive expressions of the Five influence.

The “low” side or challenge that comes with being a Five is a great deal of restlessness and dissatisfaction. Fives will often just get up, leave or even move to a new location when a restless urge overtakes them. Unlike other cards, even the other odd-numbered ones, Fives feel as though they have no real home. Home is the domain of the Four person, and the Five is the number which has just evolved.

In his book, Love Cards, Robert Lee Camp says, “In fact, Five in its highest expression is the number of wisdom. Wisdom only comes through direct experience and if we talk to a Five, we are talking to someone who has ‘been there, done that.’”

Faith. Do you have it? Did you earn it? Can it be given away? Where does it come from and where does it go when you need it the most? By definition, faith is belief with strong conviction; firm belief in something for which there may be no tangible proof; complete trust; it is the opposite of doubt. As you look around the world, you can see that everyone is trying hard to “keep the faith” and hope that things will improve personally, locally, nationally, politically, financially and even globally.

The beauty of knowing the cards of your life is also knowing when the tests of life are required, knowing what they mean and how to pass them with grace and ease. The Sevens are the cards of faith and show up in your Life Spread, 7-Year Spreads, Yearly Spreads, 7-Week Spreads and Weekly Spreads. None of us can escape the spiritual tests in life.

As another of the odd numbers, Seven represents movement away from the stability of the Six. Robert Lee Camp in his book, Love Cards, tells us, “Because the Six can represent that state of receiving instructions and directions from a higher source, the Seven represents a stepping off from that place into what could be a scary place where nothing is known for sure. In the Seven, we step away from the security that comes from organization and harmony in the external world and are asked to find peace and contentment within ourselves in spite of external circumstances. To do this represents a high spiritual state of being, and one that is not easily obtained.” The very essence of the Seven represents faith.

In the Grand Solar Spread, under the rulership of the seven planets, also known as the seven “Players,” there are seven rows down and seven columns across with the Crown Line of three cards sitting on top. The seventh row and the seventh column are both ruled by Neptune. In our spreads, weekly, yearly, 7-year and life, the seventh card is the Neptune Card. These placements may in fact help to explain why it can be difficult to understand this “spiritual” number. Neptune is “extra-sensory” and so is the Seven; the cold, logical approach of the mundane world no longer works on its own. The Sevens are about moving away from logical thinking and dealing with the spiritual realms.

This can be illustrated by taking all the cards from one suit and laying them out from the Ace to the King from left to right. As you can see the Seven is in the middle. Sevens feel like they are walking a tight wire, trying to stay centered between the material, mundane world and the spiritual world. Faith is what gets them from one point to another. If not, they will be met face on with fear. Sevens can’t solve problems with the normal methods. Threes and Fives at least choose to settle down, focus on one thing and have security. Sevens can’t. Being a Seven, or having a Seven in our spreads, means we have to have faith. We have to know in our heart that everything can and will be taken care of. That is the gift and the blessing of the Seven.

The question is how many people in our world today can honestly say they can live by faith alone when so many are attached to a person, idea, car, home, money, job, reputation, religion, family or even their health? Sevens in our spreads will challenge that. A Seven asks, “Can I take all this away from you at any time and you’ll still feel safe?” If we are attached to material things and having security, then we are going to be very scared when a Seven shows up in our spreads. A Seven will show us just how attached we are and how to really live in faith. Sevens on the high side represent freedom from fear and freedom from attachment. Sevens on the low side:

Seven of Hearts ♥ fear around love

Seven of Clubs ♣ fear around mental things

Seven of Diamonds ♦ fear around finances

Seven of Spades ♠ fear around work and health

Since the Seven of Hearts 7♥ is afraid of being betrayed and abandoned, they have to ask themselves, “Can I go on living my life even though my spouse has cheated on me and left me for a younger person? Can I trust that I will find someone who truly loves me?”

Since the Seven of Clubs 7♣ is afraid of being deceived and looks at life on the negative side, they have to ask themselves, “Can I go on living my life when there are so many bad people and so many bad things happening in the world? Can I ever see that the cup is half full and not always half empty?”

Since the Seven of Diamonds 7♦ is afraid of not having enough money, they have to ask themselves “Can I go on living my life even though my business just failed and I had to file bankruptcy and the economy is down? Can I even survive without a car or a cell phone?”

Since the Seven of Spades 7♠ is worried about their health and wellbeing, they have to ask themselves “Can I go on living with all my health problems and messed up body from so many accidents and operations? Can I ever feel happy to be alive now that I am disabled or handicapped?”

Even if your Birth Card is not a Seven, at some time in your life these Sevens will show up. How will you answer these questions when faced with similar circumstances? Do you have the faith that it takes to move through these times with joy, trust and know that everything will work out?

Robert Lee Camp in his book, The Science of Numbers, says that Seven of Clubs have negative mental patterns already ingrained in the person before they get here. They don’t get it from their parents, or the environment. They are just born that way. They can be worrisome worry warts. Only people, who know these Seven of Clubs people personally and intimately, know how much they worry. Camp goes on to explain that the Seven of Clubs can be enlightened and then turn around and be worried like crazy. The Seven of Clubs can be extremely critical and negative or a combination of both. “You are talking about a soul who is struggling with being a Seven. They are struggling to be free of fear but they come into this life with a pattern of fear.”

Authors Edith Randall and Florence Campbell in their book Sacred Symbols of the Ancients say that Seven is the number of the soul. In silence, peace and self-examination Sevens move toward perfection. When they are critical, suspicious, and judge others on face-value, they open the door to their own problems and difficulties. They say, “There are no ‘young souls’ with a 7 Birth Card. All know that theirs is the quest for Truth.”

There are many symbols, concepts and things represented by the Seven:

7 Days of the Feast of Passover

As you can see, 7s are a very magical and spiritual number, indeed. During the course of their life, Sevens walk a fine line between the material and the spiritual and often get the chance to experience both. True happiness and content are achieved when they are in the spiritual side of life, knowing that all of their needs are being provided for. Being carefree and full of wonder opens their connection to a higher source, which guarantees that they will be taken care of. Appreciation of the splendor in their life allows them to be worry-free and experience higher states of spiritual consciousness.

When the Seven spends too much time in the mundane world, afraid of not having enough, they are met with untold problems and challenges. Feeling insecure and unloved, they worry and this worry tortures them. Living in a world where they perceive that where there just isn’t enough, the Seven person can become depressed and morose. Some of them develop very negative attitudes that only perpetuate their misery. Miserable or miserly accurately describe the Seven operating on the mundane side of their personality. The Seven person will have to walk and live in truth or suffer greatly as a result. In an effort to protect themselves, Sevens will try to manipulate others and their environment, but this behavior only makes matters worse.

In his book Love Cards, Robert Lee Camp brings up an interesting point, “…most of the Sevens have power cards that are their first Karma Card. The 7♥ has the 8♥, the 7♣ has the 8♦ and the7♠ has the K♦. All of these connections indicate the misuse of power in a former incarnation. Many people of these cards come into this life with a tendency to force things to get their way, along with a habit of avoiding responsibility for their own fears and insecurities. Now, in this lifetime, each time they assert their power from the wrong place, they run into innumerable obstacles and suffer as a result. It is only when they learn the use of power to help others that they find that things work out in their favor.

“So, the Seven is constantly challenged and it is not an easy path for most. But the possibilities for experiencing higher states of consciousness and being are also present. Many Sevens accomplish what no other card in the deck can–spiritual enlightenment and freedom from the cares of the world.”

The unattached Seven can live a magical life where things just come to them when they need it. Carefree and full of joy, these people are giving and understand their needs will be met. Many are engaged in helping others and capable of great deeds in their service to humanity and the planet.

As you can see there is lot to learn about the numbers, the suits, and the combinations of both that make up the cards and the players in our lives. The interests are apt to be personal rather than humanitarian-and humanitarian concern is a requirement for Hearts. Suspicion is apt to enter into personal relationships and jealousy often results. They may also give just cause for jealousy themselves for fidelity in love is not one of their strong points.

Welcome to the Cards of Life August 2012 Newsletter. Did you know that August the 6th month of the year according to the old Roman calendar and astrologically, part of the 6th sign of the Zodiac? In the Gregorian Calendar that we use today, August was changed to the 8th month of the year by Pope Gregory XIII, after whom the calendar was named, by a decree signed on February 24, 1582. The true 8th month of the year is actually October, indicated clearly by its Latin origins as “Octo” means “eight.”

Today I want talk about the Sixes and share a chapter from my soon-to-be-released book on the face value of the cards and what they tell us about ourselves. The book doesn’t have a title yet but I hope you enjoy this section on the Sixes and how they play out in our lives and the lives of our friends and families.

In the Cards of Life, the Sixes bring forth issues from our past–emotions, thoughts, finances and even health issues–that we may not have dealt with up until now. All the different areas of life are brought into balance with the Six and, for that reason, it is called the karmic number. All Sixes are the result of past actions. Whenever I bring up the word karma, many people become afraid but keep in mind that karma can bring positive rewards too. For better or for worse, debts have to be repaid and life brought back into balance.

In Sacred Symbols of the Ancients, authors Edith Randall and Florence Campbell state that “Sixes have a special significance. They are symbols of the Law–each from a different aspect. They are therefore karmic in operation, universal in application. Those who have 6 as a birth card have a mission in life rather than a vocation; they are examples rather than independent operators. The emblem of 6 is the Double Trinity–As Above, So Below–the divine reflected in the human.” They go on to explain that “Numerologically, 6 is the cosmic parent, the guardian and comforter, the educator and director, the shelterer and protector. It is union and cooperation, adjustment and responsibility.”

For those of you who are familiar with numerology, you may have noticed by now that the science of the cards combines numerology with the fours suits to derive the 52 characters we call the “Cards.” The similarities of Six people in the cards and numerology are almost the same. In Love Numbers by Margaret Arnold, we can clearly see this holds true for Sixes of the deck: 6♥, 6♣, 6♦ and 6♠. She states that a person with the “Soul Urge 6″ has the following characteristics:

The Sixes in the Cards of Life want to create peace and do see themselves as peacemakers. They naturally see themselves as the ones to create harmony. They like everything around them to be kept nice and soft. Keeping a sense of balance in every area of their life, they tend not to like large, overly enthusiastic displays of emotion or behavior. A Six person craves peace and yet has to be careful not to get into a rut. Even for a Six, life can become boring if everything is too quiet, too peaceful and too balanced. Interestingly, the same thing can easily happen to you when a Six shows up in your weekly or yearly spreads. You may find yourself in a rut and wishing to escape but you can’t find a way out. Sixes are extremely difficult for any of the Five Birth Cards to endure. Fives go crazy when things won’t change. However, there are times when stability provides a welcome relief for those who are experiencing a lot of Fives in a short period of time. Sixes provide some peace, relaxation, and a smoothing out or evenness to our affairs. Remember that a Six guarantees that whatever is happening, it is always just and fair. For those living on more spiritual level, Sixes in your spreads may no longer be about a karmic slap across the face for something you did previously but becoming aware of your life purpose. A Six can bring the turning of the hand of fate.

All Six people are here in this lifetime to learn about responsibility. This is their birth number and it will remain with them until they pass from this life to the next. The law of karma simply says that what you give is what you will receive. A person whose Birth Card has the Face Value of Six has to endure karmic pay backs, from this lifetime and previous ones, and some pay backs are not very pleasant. Some of these negative karmic pay backs include:

Six of Hearts 6♥ – learning about responsibility in their relationships and in love. Betrayal and even rape are common paybacks.

Six of Clubs 6♣ – learning how to be responsible for what they say and being responsible for their beliefs.

They can make and lose tremendous amounts of money at different points in their life. Bankruptcy is a common payback.

Six of Spades 6♠ - learning to be more responsible regarding their work and health.

Ironically, you will find that Sixes can either be super responsible or totally irresponsible and there usually is no in between. For example, the super responsible Six of Diamonds 6♦people are the ones that pay their debts ahead of time and the irresponsible ones can’t be trusted at all. The irresponsible ones will continue to have problems whenever they try to get something for nothing, or when they expect others to take care of them. Typically you will find that a Six of Diamonds 6♦ is a person you can lend money to and know that it will be repaid. They will worry about this debt and it will be like an obsession to them until they have paid it back. Many Nine of Clubs 9♣ people are this way as well because the Six of Diamonds 6♦is their Second Karma Card.

Sixes know about destiny and fate. Theirs is the number of fate. They sense that much of their life is destined because of their actions from lives past. Fate does eventually come but usually after long periods of waiting. Of all the Sixes, the Six of Spades 6♠ lives are more fated and they don’t have as much choice in life. It’s like their life is just programmed and out of their control. An interesting characteristic about Sixes is their psychic ability. A life in stasis and balance allows the mind to be more calm and open to receive. Because they make peace a priority in their life, they have a more highly attuned psychic ability and are in a better position to hear the voice within. Even when they bored, their ability for psychic hits or impressions is heightened. A Three or Five person rarely gets to this level of psychic ability because they are so busy running around.

Another interesting characteristic about the Sixes is brought up by Robert Lee Camp in his Love Cards book. “At heart, Sixes are fairly competitive, which seems like a paradox because of how much they like peace. It is interesting to note how many successful athletes are Sixes. Because of their balanced nature, when their competitors press on them, they press back with equal force. This is a key to their success in sports and in business, where they often excel. They have a sense of fairness and competition that can bring them success in the eyes of the world.”

As you can see there is lot to learn about the numbers, the suits, and the combinations of both that make up the cards and the players in our lives.
In numerology, the Six represents two Threes. It represents balance and the scales of justice. The paying of karma is nothing more than the balancing of the scales. The six-pointed star is commonly associated with the number Six, the number of karma and fate. The two triangles, representing the polarities of male and female, fire and water, spiritual and material are perfectly interlocked and represent balance.

In The Mystic Test Book, author by Olney H. Richmond describes the Mystic Star of the Magi, “The Star is composed of 2 equilateral triangles, one dark and one light, representing Darkness and Light of astronomy or the body and soul or physical and spiritual in nature.” Richmond goes on to explain most of the symbols and concludes, “All this leads us to an intelligent consideration of the true nature and meaning of the symbolism used in the test book. We find that it consists of a union of the symbols of time, of numbers, of human relations, of spirituality, geometrical forms and astronomy, all within a small compact space without words to be misconstrued, misunderstood or mistranslated.”

The first season, Spring, is represented by the ♥Hearts suit and covers the first three months of the astrological year starting with March. Now we are fully in the season of Summer, which is represented by the third suit of the deck, ♣Clubs. Autumn is represented by the ♦Diamonds suit and the season of Winter represented by the ♠Spades suit.

In The Mystic Test Book, the first book to reveal the Sacred Science of the Cards, author Olney H. Richmond says that this system was a closely guarded secret for centuries and a group called the Order of the Magi were responsible for both its origin and its preservation. He said that this system originated over 20,000 years ago on the continent of Atlantis. The playing cards used to be made of ivory and were only used in the temples of Atlantis, and later Egypt, for the purposes of studying the movements of the planets and for making prognostications based on those planetary movements.

In his book, Richmond says, “In the spring of the year the birds mate. In the springtime of life or the first quarter, love is the master passion. The heart was therefore chosen as the emblem of the first quarter and the first season.”

“The next stage is represented by the trefoil or clover leaf of summer. Knowledge is best gained and retained in the summer of life, the second period. Therefore the shamrock or “club,” became the emblem of knowledge, intelligence, heat, argument, or even quarrels and law suits under some planets.”

“The third season, autumn, has for its emblem the diamond, representative of wealth. The third period of man’s life is one of which he is best able to gain wealth. In the fall of the year the crops are sold and the wealth of the harvest realized.”

Richmond goes on to say, “Winter or the fourth quarter of the Zodiac, is represented by the spade or acorn. By a strange and yet natural transformation, the acorn, which represented the symbolism of the death and burial of the physical form was changed among nations to the spade which represented the same thing. But the acorn, when planted in the soil, sends forth a life principle which becomes a new tree in time. So it has a deeper signification than the spade, which symbolizes death without resurrection.”

“But the spade being an instrument of labor, it becomes a symbol of labor and death combined.” In the Sacred Science of the Cards, the Spades suit is primarily concerned with understanding life through work and transformation. Transformation occurs when there is a balance with career and spirituality. Spades are the suit of wisdom and wisdom can only be obtained through experience. Though a Clubs person may have lots of knowledge, their knowledge is, by definition, inferior to wisdom. When we look around even in the heat of summer, transformation, and the change it brings, is occurring everywhere. For some, there may be too much change going on in our world. Things are definitely speeding along and it is up to us to keep up. Knowing your cards and what lies ahead for you personally, professionally, romantically and financially can help make the changes in your future easier to navigate and help you to magically transform your life to one that is divine and magnificent, indeed!

July is a time of year when people head to the lakes, rivers and beaches of the world to cool themselves and play in the warmth of sun’s rays. Being by the water offers us a time of reflection–one of the many gifts from Neptune. Neptune is the Roman god of water and the sea in Roman mythology and religion. He is the counterpart of the Greek god Poseidon. In the Greek-influenced tradition, Neptune was the brother of Jupiter and Pluto, each of them presiding over one of the three realms of Heaven, Earth and the Netherigions. In astrology, Neptune lords over the constellation Pisces. Neptune is still a major “Player” in our lives even today!

The major “Players” that I am referring to are the seven major planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Each Player has his or her own unique character and story to tell as found in Sanskrit texts, Egyptian lore, and Greek mythology. The stories of these mythical figures are scattered and woven through the fabric of ancient time. In both Eastern and Western astrology, these mythical figures are used to describe the celestial bodies within our solar system. In the Science of the Cards, they are considered the major Players the holding the cards of our destiny in this great game of life!

In every spread of our cards, be it a weekly or yearly, we have a Neptune period. Every year of our life, he shows up the 52 days before our birthday. This is a time when it is advised not to make any important decisions because we are under an nebulous energy which clouds our vision and understanding of what is really going on around us. It is, however, a wonderful time to go on vacation, especially to some place near the water. Make any important decisions after your birthday.

Neptune is a visionary and aspires to those things far away. He is the King of the Sea and the creator of mist. He is romantic and sensitive and intuitive by nature. King Neptune commands the attention of those around him by captivating his audience with great stories of far away exotic lands. Alluring and nebulous, he is neither here nor there and in all places at once. Seductive and powerful, Neptune plays the Game of Life in an almost flippant, careless way.

Vague and mysterious, Neptune is also deceptive and will toy with the other Players. He leads them on and fills their minds with visions of glamor and grandeur. It is easy to be fooled by Neptune – he is so great – so sublime. Illusions and delusions are part of the price we pay when under the the spell of Neptune.

He is fond of liquor and perfumes and cares little for the realities of earthly life. Seaside, portside, or in some far away exotic land, Neptune enjoys long journeys – the further away from home, the better.

Welcome to month of May, which is governed by the King of Hearts Card, also known as the Father Card. April is governed by the Queen of Hearts, which is referred to as the Mother Card. These two roles are ones that we are familiar with because we all have a father and a mother. We have just celebrated Mother’s Day and next month brings a celebration of Father’s day. For many single parents, including myself, we play both roles on a day-to-day basis. And yet, there are others, like Mother Teresa, who was also a King of Hearts, who are not parents themselves but play these roles as well. She gave herself wholeheartedly to the poorest of the poor, to hospices, to homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis. Mother Teresa was very active with soup kitchens, children’s and family counseling programs, orphanages and schools as well.Mother Teresa took on the “father” role and, like a king who proudly wears a royal crown and accepts the responsibility of a leader, she created a kingdom where she helped and protected its people with every part of her being. As you may know, she was the recipient of numerous honors including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. She refused the conventional ceremonial banquet given to laureates, and asked that the $192,000 in funds be given to the poor in India. She stated that earthly rewards were important only if they helped her to help the world’s needy. When she was asked, “What can we do to promote world peace?” Like a King of Hearts, she answered boldly, “Go home and love your family.” In her Nobel Lecture, she cut right to the heart of the matter like a powerful king wielding a mighty sword and singled out abortion as “the greatest destroyer of peace in the world.”In any given moment you will be offered these Mother and Father roles, even if you don’t have children of your own. The cards in your spreads change every day, every week, and every year. You, too, will be given opportunities to lead, give and love others in a Kingly and Queenly way. It is magical knowing when these times are available for you so you can give from the heart and offer a royal performance. Have you looked? Do you know when they will show up in your cards?

He was also a King of Hearts and one who created a kingdom of characters that children and adults from around the world love and adore. As a puppeteer, Henson performed in various television programs, such as Sesame Street and The Muppet Show and films such as The Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper. He created advanced puppets for projects like Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. He was also an Oscar-nominated film director, Emmy Award-winning television producer, and the founder of The Jim Henson Company, the Jim Henson Foundation, and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. May 16, 1990 at the age of 53, he died on of organ failure resulting from a streptococcal infection.
Jim Henson, born in Greenville, Mississippi, is one of the most widely known puppeteers in the world. In 1954 while attending Northwestern High School, he began working for WTOP-TV, creating puppets for a Saturday morning children’s show. After graduating from high school, Henson enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park, as a studio arts major, thinking he might become a commercial artist. A puppetry class offered in the applied arts department introduced him to the craft and textiles courses. In 1960 he graduated with a B.S. in home economics. As a freshman, he had been asked to create Sam and Friends, a five-minute puppet show for WRC-TV. The characters on Sam and Friends were forerunners of the Muppets, and the show included a prototype of Henson’s most famous character: Kermit the Frog. Henson remained at WRC for seven years from 1954 to 1961. Among the first of his assignments was Afternoon, a magazine show for housewives. This marked his first collaboration with Jane Nebel, the woman who later became his wife and mother to their five children. Here his King of Hearts “father” role played out again, allowing him to create another kingdom–a kingdom of his own real live children!

In the Sacred Science of the Cards, Age 52 is referred to as the Critical Year. It arrives when we reach a place in our life where we have lived out much of our divine purpose and get to choose whether or not to stay on the planet. Opportunities disguised as health issues or accidents happen within a year or so (51-53) of this age to provide us that very choice. Live or leave?

In May 1990, this opportunity came for Jim Henson as well. He passed away “unexpectedly” at Age 53 from organ failure. He chose to leave–his mission was accomplished. Interesting, Lolo Soetoro, the Indonesian stepfather of President Barack Obama, also died at Age 52. In the game of life, each and every one of us has the opportunity to ask ourselves on a soul level if we want to continue to live or leave. We are given a chance to decide if we have we fulfilled our karma and purpose this lifetime.

So what is this “Critical Year” and why do so many people “die” at or around Age 52? I know from my research on the Mayan civilization while writing my novel, Flying Between Heaven and Earth, that this age has great significance in the indigenous cultures as well. Robert Lee Camp and I discussed this very topic on my radio talk show, Flying Higher, on BBS Radio in April 2007. I also discussed the real significance of the Critical Year at the Noetic Sciences meeting last year in Atlanta, Georgia. Read more…
